Avengers No More: Nicolas Cage Bids Farewell to Superheroes
Nicolas Cages made one of the most applauded and celebrated returns to Hollywood in recent times. Although he never completely left it, it is true that he agreed to participate in B films that no one would consider worthy of an Oscar-winning actor like him – managing to film four a year – because that he had debts to pay and that he refused to declare bankruptcy.
In any case, the performer is once again a rising figure in the film industry after the good reception that “Pig” received in 2021 and the comedy “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talents” a year later. Ironically, this prolific streak might not last too long because in September 2022, he became a father for the third time with his fifth wife Riko Shibata, and that is now his priority.
“I aspire to engage in a weekly commitment to literary exploration by dedicating time to peruse a book each week. Concurrently, I endeavor to allocate more quality time for meaningful interactions with my daughter. I take stock of what is important. Maybe I won’t make as many films,” he commented.
Before making these statements, it was rumored that Cage might return to blockbusters after the bad taste left in his mouth by his appearance in “The Flash” with a sequel to “Face/Off,” the 1997 thriller in which he played alongside John Travolta. , and the filming of a third part of the adventure film “National Treasure” – known as “The Search” in Spain and “The Legend of the Lost Treasure” in Latin America -, now that the franchise will be resurrected on Disney+ as a series.
It is also rumored that he could reprise the character of Ghost Riders in the next installment of “The Avengers”, but he has already assured that he will not do so: not out of lack of respect for Marvel, but because he doesn’t need that and he’s one of those who think superhero franchises have saturated the box office.
