Cynthia de la Vega: Redefining Beauty Norms
The work of the model Cynthia de la Vega as director of Miss Universe Mexico has officially begun this week, so the former beauty queen says she is ready and prepared to take on the task of finding the best representative of the country to the world. She knows that the demand from the people for her to soon deliver the first Miss Universe under her guidance will be great.
The demand persists as a requisite for pursuing excellence, necessitating readiness to handle such pressure and ensuring the meticulous execution of tasks, so that will be every year and every year we will have to do our best role and performance and obviously it would be incredible if know that we are going to host we win,” said Cynthia de la Vega.
Something that the former beauty queen appreciates is that since the announcement of her position was made last Monday, she has received support, but she wants to make it clear that being in charge of the organization does not mean that she will be the protagonist of everything, since she has a team behind her helping her get the job done, made up of queens, businessmen, to name a few.
“The weight of the decisions will not fall on me, we are all going to be part, even the fans, at the end of the day that is the idea, to all find that woman who represents us internationally and even more so now than after 16 years. We bring the contest to Mexico, so we all have to show off.”
Even so, she knows that whatever mistakes are made or if the Mexican representative for Miss Universe does not qualify, public opinion will say that it was her responsibility, but it is something she is not afraid of. “Although the mission may demand heightened responsibility on my part, I am hopeful that collaboratively, we will expertly overcome it.. Each individual will find comfort as we unite in this endeavor with a shared purpose — the advancement of Mexico.”
De la Vega has already experienced these contests on both sides, in 2010 she was crowned Nuestra Belleza Nuevo León and later as Nuestra Belleza Mundo México, with the Universal Mexican organization; and she currently coordinates Miss Nuevo León; so she is clear about what she needs to do differently than what she has done in the last 30 years.
“Now inclusion is at its fullest, as I say in my slogan, beauty has no limits, everyone is welcome and there is opportunity for everyone, I also want the contest to reach digital media to connect with the new generations, who position itself much more, do podcasts with the queens to learn more about them, let them talk to us about interesting topics, show them the integral women they are in all aspects of their lives, let it no longer be just external beauty, I want it to be It is clear that this woman has much more to contribute to the world.
” For Cynthia, her start as national director of Miss Universe Mexico is a great test, since the country will host the international final next year.
“Profound challenges are on the horizon, affecting not only my endeavors but the entire nation as well. It is imperative that we showcase our capabilities and highlight our culinary and tourism prowess, everything incredible that we have to offer, but we go through each stage together because first we go with state competitions, then national and finally international competitions.
De la Vega explained that it has not yet been decided in which State the Miss Universe final will be hosted, Mexico City is a strong candidate but they are not ruling out places like Los Cabos, Puerto Vallarta, even Acapulco. About the old quarrels he had with the director of Méxicana Universal, Lupita Jones, who for 30 years had the Miss Universe franchise in Mexico; Following her dismissal as the country’s representative at Miss World midway through her reign in 2010, she said:
“The past does not define our present; I find contentment in the current moment. We anticipate and embrace the forthcoming positive transformations in this new era, as beauty is now boundless.”
Cynthia de la Vega’s first official event
Last night Miss Universe Mexico began its functions with the gala dinner where the Nicaraguan Sheynnis Palacios, current Miss Universe , was present, who arrived happily on the red carpet, looking spectacular in a silver and blue gala dress, and with all the availability to have a good time.
“I am delighted to be present here. Holding the title of Miss Universe is truly a gratifying experience. This achievement has not only brought about significant changes in my life but has also positively impacted the lives of my fellow Nicaraguans and my family. I express my contentment for embarking on this new phase.
The Miss Universe crown holds historical significance, not just within the confines of my country, where I stand as the inaugural holder of this prestigious title, but also across Latin America. The realization of this dream was made possible by the unwavering support extended to me by everyone.
This narrative extends beyond my personal experience; countless women and girls encounter similar challenges daily. I aspire that they view this account as a testament to resilience, tenacity, and inspiration, empowering them to pursue their aspirations. My journey stands as a vivid illustration that dreams can indeed materialize, showcasing the boundless possibilities within this lifetime. It is a story for them to take as an impulse and a springboard so that they can be like me, to be even better than me.”
