With James Gunn in charge, the DCU is about to begin a total renovation that hopes to give new life to the franchise to turn it into a great success that can remain in the public’s taste for several years.

The director’s arrival marked the definitive closure of the Snyderverse and the DCEU, although that is not accepted by everyone, and there are still several loose ends, such as the next installment of Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom and the original cut of Suicide Squad which continues to be a point of great interest for David Ayer , who is sure that the project will see the light of day very soon.

The empty promises of the DCEU

Despite wanting to copy the movements of the MCU, DC decided to constantly attack the competition by promising that their films would be much more mature and complex. For them, the best test would come with the premiere of Suicide Squad, since the film would have an adult rating and would be excessively violent as it was focused on a criminal group instead of conventional heroes.

In an interview with Total Film (via GamesRadar ), the director explained:

“I think so [it will come to light]. I’m going to have hope. There is an immense political headwind, because if that cut is made public, the cowardice and all the general bullshit of how the movie was treated, and how the great work they had done was taken away from the actors… That Narrative explodes once people see the film. But it will come. Something is going to happen. Something is going to be revealed. The truth always comes to light. It always comes to light.”

Ayer has had no problem explaining why he considers that Warner Bros. was to blame in this matter, from the reshoots in which he was not involved to the changes in the characters that the director considered a product of the ignorance and even racism of the company.

Snyder managed to get the closure he wanted with the release of his court, so I hope the same happens with this creator so that he can definitively leave behind the bitter experience with this brand.
