Despite the difference of more than 30 years in age between Gary Oldman and Daniel Radcliffe, a beautiful friendship was born between them during the filming of ‘Harry Potter.

Gary Oldman has stopped by the couch of ‘The Drew Barrymore Show,’ the CBS talk show in which the actress who rose to fame playing Elliot’s little sister in ‘ET the Extra-Terrestrial’ (1982) interviewed Hollywood celebrities.

The British actor is recognized in the world of celluloid for films such as ‘Sid and Nancy’ (1986), playing the unbridled bassist of the punk group Sex Pistols, ‘Bram Stoker’s Dracula’ (1992), where he played the famous Transylvanian vampire with a noble title, or ‘The Darkest Hour’ (2018), where his role as Winston Churchill earned him Hollywood recognition by winning the Oscar for best actor.

During the interview, Drew Barrymore asked the actor about the most notable anecdotes he remembers from filming the ‘Harry Potter’ films. Gary Oldman coincided with a young Daniel Radcliffe in the filming of the magical film saga, where the veteran actor played Sirius Black, the only wizard who managed to escape from the feared Azkaban prison and who is also the godfather of the protagonist.

At the request of the presenter, Gary Oldman remembered a funny experience from 2004 related to the young actor, in which both began to bond when they began rehearsing together on the bass during breaks from filming ‘Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban.’

As trust grew tighter, Gary Oldman gradually became a reference for Daniel Radcliffe.

The surprise came when the Harry Potter interpreter, who was 11 years old at the time, asked Gary Oldman for advice about his first experiences in love.

“The Harry Potter actor Dan Radcliffe was learning bass. I taught him a riff, not that he’s a great bass player, but I still taught him a riff on bass. Then he would come to me and ask me for advice on girlfriends, and of course, that’s a lot of fun. He now has a nice and long-term girlfriend with whom he has a long and healthy relationship.

But I mean, he was 11 when I met him. ‘I just adored him.’ Despite the 30-year difference between both actors, age was not an impediment to establishing a good friendship.

The role of Sirius Black was questioned by Gary Oldman himself, the actor who played him, who stated on the microphones of the well-known podcast ‘Happy Sad Confused,’ presented by Josh Horowitz, that he had not been satisfied with his work in the saga: ‘I think that my work was mediocre.

Maybe if I had read the books the way Alan Rickman did, if I had been ahead of the curve, if I had known what was coming, I honestly think I would have interpreted it a different way.’ Despite his words, the character of Sirius Black became one of the favorites of the general public, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of fans.”
