What is Edge of Tomorrow about?

Released in 2014 and directed by Doug Liman, the film features a futuristic setting in which Earth is being invaded by an alien race known as the Mimics. The plot centers on the character of William Cage, an army public relations officer who suddenly finds himself recruited to fight on the front lines against the invaders.

With no combat experience, Cage dies on his first mission but unexpectedly wakes up to find himself reliving the same day over and over again. With the help of Rita Vrataski, an experienced soldier known as the “Queen of War,” Cage must use this time loop to enhance his abilities and find a way to defeat the Mimics and save humanity.

The film is based on the Japanese science fiction novel All You Need Is Kill written by Hiroshi Sakurazaka and published in 2004.

What did Emily Blunt say about a sequel to Edge of Tomorrow?

In the past, Blunt has reiterated her interest in returning for a sequel; however, this has not been possible. She now returns to the topic with hope:

“It could be good. I think when we first talked about a sequel, it was right before I was about to do Mary Poppins, so it was quite a while ago. I think if we were going to make one, we’d have to reimagine what the sequel would be like.”
