Created by Christopher Storer and starring Jeremy Allen White, The Bear is one of the best series in recent times. Since its launch in 2022, it has attracted the attention of critics, obtaining a huge number of positive reviews.
In his second season he managed to not only maintain the level of his first, but also raised expectations for what is to come. Now, the first installment has been rewarded for its quality with the award for Best Comedy Series at the most recent edition of the Emmys.
It is no surprise to anyone that the series won, since it is one of those projects that has the favor of both critics and the public. With a simple premise, it is likely that at first few would bet on its success, but it is the way of telling the story that changes the game.
With outstanding performances, supported by an excellent script, and accompanied by very good direction, all the elements combine to create this television experience that is undoubtedly deserving of this award.
What is ‘The Bear’ about?
A young chef from the world of haute cuisine returns to Chicago to run his family’s sandwich shop.
The Bear has already won several awards this awards season, including the Golden Globe for Best Musical or Comedy Series and the Critics Choice Awards, in the same category. Jeremy Allen White has also been recognized as Best Actor in a Comedy Series in both editions as has his partner Ayo Edebiri as Best Actress in a Comedy Series.
To win this award they had to beat strong opponents, since this year there were very good comedy series on television. For this year their opponents to beat were: Abbott Elementary, Barry , Jury Duty , The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, Only Murders in The Building , Ted Lasso and Merlina.
In the edition a year ago the winner was Ted Lasso and The Bear on that occasion was not even in the nominations.
Since its first season, The Bear has earned excellent ratings from critics and audiences. It is a thoughtful series that at the same time has you tense because of all the chaos that can occur in a kitchen.
Obviously Jeremy Allen White stands out with his performance but he is very well accompanied by a strong cast that supports the entire show.
In this second season, the level is raised by bringing in star actors as guest characters or cameos, particularly in the outstanding episode 6, where we witness a Christmas dinner with the Berzatto family.
In a tense and claustrophobic environment we see wonderful performances by Gillian Jacobs , Jon Bernthal , Sarah Paulson , John Mulaney , Bob Odenkirk and Jamie Lee Curtis.
