Eric McCormack, the star of ‘Will and Grace’, divorces his wife after 26 years together
Another of the strongest couples in Hollywood has just announced their breakup by surprise. This time, it is the actor Eric McCormack and the film director Janet Holden. To most of the public, he is still known as the male lead of the popular sitcom ‘Will and Grace’.
His was the first openly gay character to sneak into the homes of millions of Americans through the small screen, but in what came as a surprise to many at the time, the actor who played him was heterosexual in real life and had been happily married for a year.
Janet filed for divorce this Wednesday citing irreconcilable differences, thus putting an end to almost three decades of romantic relationship. It is believed that she will request alimony, and along those same lines she has asked the court to prevent her ex from doing the same.
Their separation has been a complete surprise because nothing suggested that anything was wrong between them, and this year they had made several public appearances, including the party after the premiere of the Broadway play ‘The Cottage’ last July.
The couple met on the set of the television series ‘Lonesome Dove’ in 1994, and have a 21-year-old son together called Finnigan. What attracted Eric to Janet was that he was different from all the actresses he had dated until then, because he wore jeans, drove a truck, and had an air of mystery and danger surrounding her that intrigued him from the first moment.
