“Harry Potter” series is getting closer – and it could be more than one. The story of the young wizard Harry Potter is to be retold – as a streaming series. Now the first milestone in production has been reached, which also brings a surprise. There could end up being more than one series.

The industry magazine Deadline reports that authors are currently presenting their plans for a possible “Harry Potter” series to those responsible at Warner.
The Hollywood company commissioned a number of screenwriters to develop different approaches. In a kind of casting, they now compete against each other. The first round is currently taking place in Los Angeles.
The best ideas will then go into a second round, which will take place in Great Britain.
Deadline was also able to introduce some of the names who are currently applying with their ideas to realize the “Harry Potter” series.
More than a “Harry Potter” series?
As Deadline further reports, in the end the choice does not necessarily have to fall on a single person.
Those in charge could also be so enthusiastic about several idea pitches that they, for example, hire two authors to do the series together.
But there is also another way to sign several of the applicants permanently: be open to implementing more than one idea.
That’s quite surprising. Because the upcoming series is supposed to be a new adaptation of JK Rowling’s books. Hillier, Jordan and Co are pitching exactly how they want to do this.
But of course it makes little sense to end up producing two series, each of which adapts the books and essentially tells the same thing. However, it is conceivable that some authors have already presented further ideas (perhaps that was even a task).
There could be ideas for spin-offs with certain characters, for prequels that further explore aspects of the prehistory, or for a story that runs parallel to the main plot and shows things not seen there.
In any case: big plans for “Harry Potter”
What is certain is that Warner has big plans for “Harry Potter”. Company CEO David Zaslav mentioned the brand several times in connection with titles that must be one of the company’s pillars.
He also made it clear that the new series would run for ten years. If you consider how few series reach such a running time, that’s definitely an announcement.
The “Harry Potter” series is produced exclusively for the North American streaming service MAX. It is not yet clear how the series will come to Germany , i.e. where it will be shown here.
Sky or WOW would currently be the logical choice, but since it is not yet clear when “Harry Potter:
The Series” will finally appear, it is of course impossible to predict what the contractual situations for the exploitation of streaming content will look like. With the current pitch round, an important step forward has been taken.
There is currently a lot to suggest that production will pick up speed in the further course of 2024 and that we will soon be able to specifically estimate whether series production will even start in 2025.
