This week the Epstein case became a trend again after the New York justice system made public the first two batches of a series of documents related to the trafficking and abuse network orchestrated by financial magnate Jeffrey Epstein and his lover Ghislaine Maxwell.
These documents are part of a defamation lawsuit filed in 2015 by Virginia Giuffre, one of the many women who accused Epstein of committing abuse at his Florida residences, against Ghislaine Maxwell, who is currently serving a 20-year sentence after being found guilty of collaborating in the recruitment of his partner’s victims and participating in their abuse.
Jeffrey Epstein was arrested in July 2019 on charges of sex trafficking of minors. He was accused of sexually abusing numerous young women at his residences in New York and Florida.
Epstein had faced similar accusations in the past, but in 2008 he reached a deal in Florida that allowed him to avoid more serious federal charges.
In his cell situated in Metropolitan Correctional Center, New York, Epstein was found dead on August 10,2019.
The official cause of his death was declared suicide by hanging. His death sparked controversy and speculation as it occurred while he was in federal custody and due to face trial on the new charges.
The coming to light of these documents inevitably aroused curiosity among people to know the names of the celebrities involved in one way or another in the case.
Outside the world of entertainment, former President Bill Clinton, Prince Andrew and physicist Stephen Hawking were some of the public figures mentioned in the reports.
In the case of Clinton, BBC.com reports that the files indicate that Clinton traveled in Epstein’s plane on what were described as humanitarian trips to Africa in the early 2000s, although she said she later cut ties with him.
The BBC also notes that the files include references to Johanna Sjoberg, who claimed that Prince Andrew touched her breast while sitting on a sofa inside Epstein’s Manhattan apartment in 2001.
In the case of Hawking, The Guardian reported that the late Cambridge physicist’s name was included in a 2015 email in which Epstein told Maxwell to offer a reward to any of Giuffre’s “known family friends” who could prove an allegation that Hawking was false had participated in an “orgy with minors” in the Virgin Islands.
As the information has been revealed, the names of some of the most important celebrities in the entertainment industry have appeared between the pages, such as Leonardo DiCaprio , Cate Blanchett, Bruce Willis and Kevin Spacey, however, all of them are only mentioned by some witnesses in their statements, and in different situations do not involve a crime.
For example, one of the witnesses recalls that Epstein frequently had telephone conversations, and on one occasion mentioned: ” Oh, that call was with Leonardo, Cate Blanchett or Bruce Willis.”
The Independent states that the stars’ appearance does not indicate any crime or involvement in Epstein’s crimes and neither Blanchett , DiCaprio , Spacey or Willis have been charged with any crime or involvement in Epstein’s abuses.
However, on social networks, users consider that it is impossible that the actors did not know the kind of person Epstein was and have condemned that they maintained some type of relationship with him, even if they did not directly participate in any of his sexual meetings.
On the other hand, on social networks it has also been rumored a lot that the journalist and television host Oprah Winfrey, along with the renowned actor Tom Hanks, are part of Epstein’s infamous contact list, but the truth is that neither of them not been mentioned in any of the official documents so far.
The reason for these speculations is probably due to the fact that both appeared on several of the false lists that were previously published on the Internet, which it should be clarified do not come from a reliable source.
As a result of this, both took immediate action by closing comments on their social networks and it is expected that in the following days they will issue a statement in order to clear their name and reputation.
Other people mentioned in the documents include director and producer George Lucas , Cameron Diaz , Michael Jackson , and model Naomi Campbell.
However, it is important to clarify again that at the moment they are all simple mentions that do not show any type of relationship, connection or link with the crimes committed by Jeffrey Epstein, and in no way has any list of clients or people been shared publicly. to attend the parties on the private island.
All this may take a turn in the following days when the rest of the files are released.
But for now the tabloid use of the information has made it seem that an entire trafficking network was uncovered in which celebrities of all kinds are involved.
