It’s a great day for fans of shootings and fights. After four successful installments, John Wick will give way to an entire cinematographic universe and the one who will be at the head of everything will be Chad Stahelski, director in charge of the tetralogy.

The plan is for there to be titles set in that fiction, not only in cinema, but on other types of platforms over several years.

The Lionsgate studio has decided to squeeze every penny out of the intellectual property.

Who will be in charge of the John Wick franchise and what will it consist of?

According to Variety, Chad Stahelski has agreed to develop an entire universe for the John Wick franchise and the Highlander – The Immortal reboot.

Lionsgate’s idea is that both titles allow them to have a saga that expands beyond cinema and with the help of this director’s production company, who has precisely been highlighted for his passion for elaborate action sequences and risk scenes.

This is what she said about his new assignment:

“I am pleased to expand my relationship with Lionsgate in this new role for the John Wick universe and its future expansion. John Wick is very close to my heart and being able to continue at the helm will be the most fun for me.

I am happy to also launch another franchise with Highlander, a world that is very rich and with captivating stories to tell.”

In case you haven’t seen it, Highlander is a fantasy film about a group of immortal warriors who must fight each other. The film will have a remake by Stahelski and to which Henry Cavill is linked as the protagonist.

It is expected that this production will be his next project and that it will begin filming this year.

We will have to see what the public thinks and if there is room for more deliveries.

As for dog lovers’ favorite hitman, John Wick 4 seemed to put a definitive end to Keanu Reeves ‘ character. But he conveniently introduced a couple of new, young characters who could perfectly continue the franchise.

Although they didn’t make much of a particular impact, they also didn’t disappoint which gives room for people to get attached to them.

Notably, the franchise already has spin-offs published and on the way. Last year the prequel series The Continental: From the World of John Wick premiered, although it was almost ignored by the public and mostly battered by critics.

The next one will arrive this year and it is Ballerina, a film starring Ana de Armas, another assassin for hire determined to exact revenge against those who betrayed her.

For now, you can find John Wick 4, its predecessors and The Continental on Prime Video. Although Stahelski has been questioned about the possibility of a fifth, he has been skeptical of the idea.

Likewise, it is known that he was linked to the film adaptation of Ghost of Tsushima, an exclusive Playstation video game about a samurai who must repel the Mongol invasion of the titular Japanese island.

But everything seems to indicate that these other two franchises will have priority.
