You don’t learn, do you? Despite a jury finding him guilty of assaulting and harassing his ex-partner after an altercation in March last year, actor Jonathan Majors, who seemed to have a meteoric rise in Hollywood, continues to deny the charges.
In the first interview, he has offered since he was arrested, he is incredulous at the determination of the process, but certain that he will not stay away from the industry.
What did Jonathan Majors say about his verdict?
In a conversation with the Good Morning America program, Jonathan Majors regretted having been found guilty of the assault charges against him. He believes that the evidence, both that presented by his defense and that shown by the New York prosecutor’s office, proves nothing.
On the contrary, he believes that the only thing that is clear is that his relationship with Grace Jabbari, the woman he attacked, was always toxic.
“I was careless with his heart, but not with his body. Our relationship was unhealthy and that revealed itself over time. I should have been brave and said ‘No, this isn’t working’ and I should have left. But I did not. [When asked if he has ever hit a woman] Never. My hands have never touched a woman. Yes, I think so. I pray that it will be so.”
The interview was announced at the end of last week and, as some users mention online, it bears a sinister resemblance to the satire The Boys, a show that makes fun of Hollywood and its stars’ scandals quite frequently.
To make everything more ironic, the ABC network, on which this program is broadcast, is owned by Disney, a corporation that removed him from the Marvel franchise after being found guilty.
Majors also rejected accusations of abusive behavior from other couples that were compiled by Rolling Stone magazine in June of last year.
In an investigation, that medium cited different anonymous sources of romantic and work relationships who describe him as a violent man. In this appearance, he dismisses that characterization and laments whether he was “a jerk” when he was in his twenties.
Jonathan Majors’ future in Hollywood
Could Majors return to Hollywood? The guilty verdict could be a problem, but there’s a chance she’ll at least return to acting. Other famous people accused of different types of abuse have found open arms in Europe. Kevin Spacey, is an example of the issue.
A number of people alleged his involvement in the assault and sexual harassment.
What we know for sure is that his career at Marvel is over. No official announcement has been made about the character he played and media reported that he would be replaced.
For now, Majors’ only project that will be primarily affected is the indie drama Magazine Dreams. This feature film, winner at Sundance 2022, was going to be released in December, but was removed from the release calendar, also by Disney, once the actor was put on trial and it is unknown if he will ever see its release.
