By Megan Sauer
Today, really, the movie we have brought is such a wonderful South Korean thriller. And whoever is a thriller fan, whatever you are doing, leave everything else and come straight to read this review. Let me tell you why.
Look, there is a law in South Korea that if the criminal is not caught after 15 years of any crime, then that case is invalid. It will happen, and even if the criminal is found after that, the police cannot catch him. Now, in such a situation, a detective investigates the missing case of a little girl, but he is not able to catch the criminal for 15 years.
Now he has only seven days left and 7 more. 15 years will be completed after the day. If the criminal is not found on the 7th day, then this case will be closed forever.
So, the detective and the mother of the missing girl together try their best to solve this case. Will they succeed? Like every other thriller, what is the twist in the end that makes this movie special? To know all this, you will have to watch the video till the end, like it, share it, and yes, if you are new on the channel…
The movie just starts and shows police detective Chank along with his partner Sam. Both of them go to the house of a woman named Shirley, where they look at some case files.
What actually happened was that 15 years earlier, Shirley’s daughter had gone missing. Chang had investigated that case, but he could not find the criminal. And meanwhile, the kidnapper murdered Shirley’s daughter.
Now, after 15 years, Chang is meeting Shirley, but so many times over the years, Shirley has collected a lot of evidence on her behalf, in which Sam plays it. A girl’s scream is heard in it, he immediately removes the tape. Now Shirley asks, “Has anything been found out in my daughter’s case?” Does Chenki stop talking?
Now Sam says that according to the law of our country, if the criminal is not caught within 15 years of the crime, then that case will be closed without a solution. After that, we cannot even catch that criminal. And in your daughter’s case, there is only one week left for her to complete 15 years.
If we do not find the murderer in her, then this case will also be closed.” Sherley is shocked to hear this, saying, “What kind of injustice is this?” She reveals all her files in front of them.
If it is not evidence, then what is it? Find the criminal quickly and arrest him, but the problem is that there are no concrete clues in these files on the basis of which they could catch the murderer.
Chang and Sam also helplessly help Shirley. They say sorry and leave. Then Sherley cries and requests from behind, “Please, sir, catch my daughter’s murderer. You had promised that day that you would get justice for my son.” Chang also feels very sad inside, “What should I do?” From there, he comes straight to the courtyard where Shirley’s daughter had died.
There he sees some visuals. Someone had placed a bouquet at that place. He thinks that perhaps Sherley might have kept the flowers in the memory of her daughter. When he calls and asks, she says that “I have given up on going to that place. I will never go there where my daughter died.” So the first question is, who kept this bouquet?
Now Jang doubts whether it was the murderer or not. The flowers kept are slightly withered, which shows that it must have been kept there for 10 or 15 hours. That is, someone must have kept it here at midnight. So now Chang looks at the CCTV cameras kept there and checks its footage.
At exactly 1:1 in the night, a man comes out of the nearby forest and comes to the highway, keeps a bouquet, and goes away. Not only this, while leaving, he also looked at the camera, but his face was not clear.
Now Chang, it seems that whoever it is, he is challenging me and also saying that here I have also come on camera, catch me and show me. Chang also accepts this challenge, and he goes to the jungle with Sam that same night.
It is certain that the murderer would have stopped his car here and would have come to the highway on foot. And it was expected that in the forest, they would find the tire marks of the car and they would also take a photo of its pattern.
Now Jank guesses, that is, he left the car here and went to the highway. After placing flowers there, he came back the same way. And after leaving the car from here, he must have gone to this side because this side is not covered by CCTV cameras. That is, it is a blind spot.
So now how to trace him in Datchi Kiwi? His image was recorded at exactly 1:1. If he came back on foot and went through this route with a car, he would have reached this blind spot at about 1:5 to 1:5. We have to find out what happened during these 10 minutes.
Which vehicles had passed that blind stop, especially those vehicles which have dashboard cameras installed? The dash cam of some vehicle must have recorded the killer’s vehicle. Then what was it, they started their search. A car is found whose dash cam recording shows a black-colored car passing exactly 1:5, but the problem is that it does not have a license plate number, which means there is a possibility that it must be the car of the same murderer.
But now the problem is this: when Chang watches that footage again and again, he sees a sticker stuck on the windshield. Chang then starts searching for the car with such a sticker, and one day he sees the same car which he saw on CCTV, had seen in the footage.
But now the problem is that the license plate number of this car is there. Still, Chang gets suspicious, and he verifies the tire pattern of this car with the tire pattern of the murderer’s car, and it is a perfect match. Not only that, the windshield of this car also has a similar sticker. Now Chang looks around to see whose car it is. Then a man sees Chang and silently walks away from there.
It was raining, so he was holding an umbrella. Chang follows him, but the murderer gets lost somewhere in the crowd. Then suddenly he traces the murderer and chases him, but he escapes again. Now he checks in some stores there, then he sees the same man in a restaurant. Chang is sitting at a table with his face hidden under the pretext of reading a newspaper.
A wet umbrella is also kept near him. Now Chang is about to see his face when he quickly pushes the waitress and runs away from there. Chang also immediately runs after her.
The murderer pushes Shirli outside and runs away. Seeing Chang chasing him, Shirli realizes that he is the murderer and Chang is trying to catch her, but Chang’s luck is bad, and the murderer quickly drives away in his car. Poor Chang goes and stands dejected because 15 years have passed, and he is not able to do anything yet.
But Sherly says that 15 years have not yet passed, there are still two hours left in it.
We will see the license plate. Now Chang tells that no, no, it can’t be done because that license plate number was fake. I have really failed in this case. Sherly is very sad to hear that now her daughter has got justice.
How to get it? Chang starts burning all the evidence of the case, including the drawing of the murderer. Then Sherley’s voice message comes that I am suspicious of some people. I will send you their names, you just give me their information.
We will definitely be able to catch the murderer. But the poor guy had given up and ignored Sherley’s message. The murderer’s drawing was going on, but suddenly it rained, and the fire get extinguished.
The next day, the murderer had chosen a small boy as his target, and he followed him. He starts doing it, but that boy also gets a little scared, and he starts shouting ‘Mummy, Mummy.’
The murderer then chases him, but in the meantime, he reaches his home, and the murderer again has to return empty-handed. Now he will not try to kidnap this child because he may get trapped. So he fixes a new target for himself, an elderly person. He is playing happily with his granddaughter when the phone rings inside the house.
When the old man goes to pick up the phone, the call gets disconnected. He is about to come out when the phone rings again. He then goes to pick up the phone. But then it stops. Now when the old man comes out and looks, his granddaughter is not there in the park.
Now this old man, whose name is Anthony, complains to the police that his granddaughter has suddenly gone missing. Police call the camera in his house. They have set up tracking systems, etc., so that if the kidnappers call for ransom, they can trace them.
Anthony goes to the park again, and then again a call comes, but not on Anthony’s phone but on another phone kept in the grass there. But when he attends the call, he hears his granddaughter’s scream. Then he signals to the police sitting inside that the kidnapper is calling, and then they get busy trying to trace that call. The kidnapper says that your granddaughter is with me.
Now inside the house, the mother of the child, whose name is Kim, the kidnapper calls her. The police then start tracing that call. The kidnapper says, ‘Give me 0000 dollars, I will release your daughter, but if the police come to know, you will see your daughter’s dead face.’
Poor Kim also cries and says, ‘No, no, I will not tell anything to anyone, please don’t do anything to my daughter.’ But then suddenly the police officer’s phone falls down, and a voice comes out of it.
Parr understands that there is a police there who is tracing his location, and he immediately leaves that location. Here, Kim becomes unconscious due to fear. She doesn’t know what the kidnapper will do with her daughter.
Then they come to know that Kim is a heart patient and had undergone an operation a few years ago. Meanwhile, they trace the location of the kidnapper and reach there, but the murderer has fled from there. They find a cigarette butt, which they use as evidence.
Let’s keep it as it is. Here, the story goes in flashback when Chang had gone to tell Shirley that now 15 years have passed in her daughter’s case, and now nothing can be done because they are not getting any clue. But the very next day, Shirley went to that restaurant. Shirley asks the restaurant owner if a man came here on a rainy day, pushed the waiter, and ran away.
Do you know him? He says he did not see his face, but he was that person. Shirley was sitting at the table. When she goes to that table, the man’s umbrella is lying there. Shirley picks it up and sees the name of a bank on it. She goes to that bank and asks, “To which customers do you give such umbrellas?” They say that they give them to their VIP customers.
Shirley says, “Can you give me their names?” but he refuses, saying that it is illegal to give customer information to anyone else. Shirley doesn’t know the rules and regulations of her country, but she definitely knows that money has the power to make every illegal work legal.
Friends, what do you think about this? Tell us in the comments. If Shirley meets that staff alone and gives the money, then within the next five minutes, Shirley gets the information.
Sherly had called Chang that day to tell him about this, but Chang did not pick up the call because he was disappointed. Then Sherly sent him a voice message: ‘Chang, till then give up.’
When he had finished and started burning the evidence, he heard Shirley’s voice message: ‘I am suspicious of some people, please give me their names.’ But even then, Chang had ignored it. However, Shirley had not given up.
The next day, she started inquiring by visiting the houses of all the VIP customers given in that list, one by one. There is an old house at one address. Shirley goes inside and sees that there is a cross mark on every day in a calendar.
In the case of Shirley’s daughter, the day when she completes 15 years is circled, and Shirley understands that this is the house of the murderer. Then the murderer comes to the door. Shirley freezes in fear, but the murderer does not come inside. Instead, he leaves from there. Shirley does not tell anything about this to Chang.
Now, in the present, the police want to find Anthony’s daughter as soon as possible because Anthony is missing, and Kim, who is a heart patient, may die if her daughter is not found.
The police will have to work hard. Here, the murderer would be driving a truck. Inside the truck, he has kept Anthony’s granddaughter locked in a box. On the way, a police car comes, but the murderer is walking comfortably without any tension. Suddenly, the girl starts making noises from inside the box.
The killer immediately takes her to a deserted road so that the police do not hear her voice. He opens the box, and the girl tries to escape, but the murderer covers her mouth with his hand, puts tape on it, and closes the box.
Back at home, Kim is waiting for the kidnapper’s call. When the kidnapper calls, Kim says, ‘I need to talk to my daughter. Please give her the phone.’ The kidnapper says that in some time, a garbage truck will come near your house. Check it out.
You know? It will be okay, your daughter is fine. Poor Kim runs towards the road, stops the garbage truck, and checks among the garbage. There is a photo of her daughter in which she is standing in a house. The kidnapper has just taken this photo.
Now, Kim feels relieved that the girl is absolutely fine. The police check the background of that photo to see if there is any clue in it. Then they understand that it exactly matches the kidnapping pattern of Shirley’s daughter 15 years ago. They immediately meet Chang, the person who handled the case.
Chang tells them that in Shirley’s daughter’s case too, the kidnapper had sent a photo of her daughter in a garbage truck, meaning that after 15 years, the same murderer kidnaps again. The child’s life may be in danger. Then he remembers that due to the rain that day, the evidence collected about the murderer was not completely burnt. Now he checks them.
A police officer asks if he will give money, will he release the girl? Chang says no. 15 years ago, we also had the same feeling, and Shirley went to the railway station as told by him with money in a bag. She left the bag at the place told by the murderer. But we were keeping an eye on that bag.
Then a train came, and many military people came in it, and in that crowd, we missed the murderer, but he picked up the bag of money from the elderly student and replaced it with a bag of fake notes. Now the police officer asks why he is kidnapping again with the same method after 15 years.
Chang says that obviously, he is laughing at the police department. Look at them, they are not able to do anything. He is challenging the policemen, saying, ‘I will commit crimes again and again. You catch me and show me if possible.’
The police officer tells all these things to his senior officer who is at Kim’s house. Then Kim gets a call from the kidnapper, and he says that today at noon, leave a bag of 0000 dollars in the railway station. The senior officer is shocked that he is saying exactly what Chang had said.
Meanwhile, Chang and Sam go to the station before the kidnapper boarded the train. Chang thinks that 15 years ago, the murderer came with the military men, and he must not have come out through the main door after taking the money. He must have escaped by running through the railway track.
Chang and Sam also get down from the train and wait on the same track. When they do, they see a man in a military uniform running away with a bag. Chang and Sam chase him.
The kidnapper throws the bag against the wall. Chang and Sam finally catch the man and see his face. Chang is completely shocked to see that it is none other than Anthony. They take him into custody.
Now Anthony tells what really happened that day when the police found the kidnapper at Anthony’s house. As they were tracing the call, Anthony suddenly disappeared from the park. The kidnapper had called Anthony and said that his granddaughter was with him, then lured Anthony to a place near the forest where there was a shed.
Anthony went inside, and someone closed the door of the shed. After a lot of effort, Anthony managed to open the door and escape safely.
There was a letter in his car instructing him to bring a bag of money from the railway station if he wanted his granddaughter to stay alive. Anthony explains that he picked up the bag and ran away, throwing it on the other side of the wall.
However, the police did not believe him because they found a cigarette butt with Anthony’s fingerprints near the public phone. Moreover, the voice and speech pattern in the kidnapper’s calls matched Anthony’s voice.
Additionally, Anthony had informed the police shortly after his granddaughter’s kidnapping. Taking all these things into account, the police are convinced that Anthony is the kidnapper.
But Chang doesn’t think that Anthony is the kidnapper. If he were a kidnapper and a murderer, why would he throw the bag of money on the other side of the wall? He could have escaped with it. Furthermore, he cannot be the kidnapper repeating the same method as 15 years ago because he would know he would be caught this time.
Therefore, Anthony cannot be the kidnapper. There must be something else going on. However, the presence of Anthony’s fingerprints on the cigarette found in the public booth raises questions. How did it get there if Anthony wasn’t the kidnapper? It suggests that the kidnapper must have worn gloves.
If he wasn’t Anthony, he must have been wearing gloves even while smoking the cigarette. So how were fingerprints found on it? This is a puzzling question, indicating that Anthony is not the kidnapper or murderer at all. Yes, it seems that the murderer has set up the entire situation to frame Anthony.
The police argue that all the evidence points to Anthony, including the photo of the kidnapped girl in the background, which matches the wall of Anthony’s old house. It suggests that Anthony kept the girl there.
Moreover, the girl has not been found yet, making the case even more complex. Now, audio recordings of recent calls made by the kidnapper and Shirley’s call from 15 years ago have been discovered. Chang seeks the help of a specialist to compare the audio from his daughter’s father’s calls.
The specialist confirms that both audios are the same, except that the audio from 15 years ago in their records is much clearer.
The present audio contains a lot of disturbance and background noise, indicating that the murderer might be using the same old audio tape. In the new audio, the murderer’s voice is unclear, but the sound of vehicles in the background is distinct.
Chang realizes that the murderer is using the same 15-year-old audio, but when they made a recording while playing it, the surrounding sounds were captured. Besides the police, Shirley also has these recordings.
On that day, Chang and Sam played the same tape at Shirley’s house, which contained the sound of Shirley’s daughter screaming. This suggests that there is definitely a connection between Shirley and the murderer. Realizing this, Chang goes to Shirley’s house and finds her there.
Anthony’s granddaughter is with her. Oh my God! Chang starts wondering what the mystery is. He asks Shirley, ‘Did you kidnap that child?’ Here Shirley tells him that she got the list of VIP customers from the bank. One of them was the house of the murderer.
The murderer was marking in the calendar every day when 15 years would be completed and when he would live his life with certainty. She had known that this was Anthony’s old house. Then Anthony had come there, and Shirley had told him that she was standing ready to stab, but Anthony did not come inside.
Then Shirley saw that Anthony was very happy with his daughter and granddaughter. She could not bear the fact that the man who had kidnapped her daughter had killed her. He was so happy with his family, and then he met Anthony’s granddaughter. She made a plan to kidnap Anthony, and she was successful in it. She did this kidnapping in exactly the same way as Anthony had kidnapped her daughter 15 years ago.
She also recorded the voice of Anthony’s granddaughter and then gave that child to Anthony. She took the child’s photo to Anthony’s old house, where she took a photo of the child, which she kept in the garbage truck and sent it to Anthony’s house. Then she wrote a letter for Anthony asking him to bring a bag of money from the railway station, and then he would meet his granddaughter.
Then she wrote a letter to Anthony. The cigarette was deliberately kept near the public booth so that the police would suspect him, and Anthony would be punished for his 15-year-old crime. Now, hearing all this, Chang gets angry at Shirley and asks, ‘What are you doing? You are punishing Anthony for his mistake by doing this.
Give the child to me, I will take him to his mother Kim.’ But Shirley requests that if he is sent back, then the charges against Anthony will be erased, and he will not be punished for the murder of my daughter. ‘At least don’t let him serve the sentence of 10 to 15 years in jail,’ says Shirley. Convincing her, Chang goes to meet Anthony again.
He asks, ‘Why did you kidnap your granddaughter?’ Anthony says, ‘I kidnapped her. You didn’t do it.’ Chang responds, ‘Okay, you didn’t kidnap her, but why did you kidnap and kill Shirley’s daughter 15 years ago?’
Anthony gets upset after hearing this. Chang tells him, ‘Now your daughter and granddaughter are paying the punishment for that mistake of yours. Quietly confess your crime, and I will send your granddaughter safely to her mother. This is a promise.’
Now Anthony tells why he kidnapped Shirley’s daughter 15 years ago. Anthony’s daughter, Kim, is a heart patient and was going for her operation. Anthony needed $50,000.
At that time, Anthony did not have that much money, so he kidnapped Shirley’s daughter and demanded the return of $50,000. At that time, on Chang’s request, Shirley kept fake notes of $50,000 in a bag and took the bag to the railway station. When Anthony saw that it contained fake notes, he got irritated. He called Shirley and threatened her that if she did not give the real notes, he would forget her daughter.
Shirley did not want to take any more risk at that time, and she went to Anthony with the money. At the place told by her, Anthony told her to quickly cover her face with a plastic sheet. Shirley did the same, and then Anthony took Shirley’s daughter in his car and went there but stopped the car in the forest near the highway.
When he tried to take Shirley’s daughter out, she attacked Anthony and started running away from there. Anthony also ran after her. The girl started climbing a rock, but unfortunately, in the dark, she could not see properly. She found herself at the edge of a cliff where her foot slipped, and she fell down onto the highway.
At that time, Chang was coming in his car at Shirley’s request, and the girl fell directly in front of his car. Chang hit the car on the other side and had an accident as well.
Shirley cries bitterly while holding her daughter’s dead body in her hands. Meanwhile, Anthony takes out money from Shirley’s car and goes away from there. He then gets his daughter, Kim, operated on her heart, and he starts living happily with his daughter and his granddaughter.
However, he also regrets that he has become the reason for the death of a little girl. So, he used to leave a bouquet in memory of that girl on the highway. But from the same bouquet, Chang and Shirley start the investigation again, and now Anthony is trapped.
Based on Anthony’s recorded statement, he is sentenced to jail. Chang returns his daughter to Kim. On the other hand, Shirley goes near a tree in the forest and says, ‘Daughter, you will get justice.’ Saying that, she hugs her stomach, and her heart becomes a little lighter.
With this, friends, the movie named Montage ends here. In this movie, it is told that if someone commits a mistake, they will be punished for it. They will definitely get punished, but where does this happen?
Those who commit crimes roam free, while innocent people and those who fight for the truth rot behind bars.
