Manipulative Therapist: A True Story of Betrayal and Deception

What happens when a successful businessman decides to seek help from a therapist in his life? 

This is the story of Marco, who steps into a world of depression and deception hidden behind happiness. What storm comes into Marco’s business and personal relationships when a therapist enters his life? 

Let’s find out.

Marco’s Struggles

Marco is a person who is going through many difficulties. He is under severe psychological pressure, although he is very successful and has no shortage of wealth because he inherited his family’s clothing business. However, he is suffering from extreme anxiety and depression.

Seeking Help

To get rid of his troubles, one day he decides to seek the services of a therapist. The therapist he visits is known to be very skilled in his work, and every patient who has been with him has found healing. 

This doctor is also famous for having worked with various celebrities, or let’s say he has solved their psychological issues.

Building Trust

Marco starts visiting this doctor regularly so that he can recover and get rid of the things that have been troubling him. This doctor’s treatment method is somewhat different from other psychologists. 

His methods are different in the way that he develops a very close relationship with patients. He takes them out for walks, talks with them there, and holds his sessions with them in different restaurants. In other words, it’s such a method that the patient doesn’t even feel they are being treated. 

Surprisingly, all these methods were working for Marco, and with each passing day, Marco starts feeling better, and along with that, his trust in this doctor also starts growing. 

Since Marco was previously troubled and didn’t understand how to get rid of these problems, now because of this doctor, he was feeling cheerful.

Blind Trust

Marco’s trust in his doctor grows to such an extent that he starts making all his life decisions after consulting him. He even consults him about business matters that need decisions, and the doctor also gives him advice beyond his job – meaning his job was that of a psychologist, but he starts giving business advice too. 

He even starts advising him about his fabric business. When Marco’s sister learns about all these circumstances, that Marco has involved the doctor in the family business, i.e., the fabric manufacturing business, she doesn’t like this and stops Marco from doing so. 

Due to this, tension starts developing between Marco and his sister, which affects the business environment and their personal relationship. 

Tension with Family

You can gauge Marco’s trust in this doctor from the fact that Marco even discusses the tension with his sister with this doctor. There was nothing that Marco was hiding from the doctor. 

They say that when tension starts between siblings or family members, good people try to end that tension, but the advice this doctor gave Marco will surprise you. 

The doctor advises Marco to completely end relations with his sister given the circumstances. This might be shocking for all of you, but Marco completely follows the doctor’s advice.

Deepening Manipulation

As time passes, the doctor deepens his relationship with Marco even further because he was a psychologist and knew how to play with someone’s psychology. The doctor starts discussing things beyond psychological issues with Marco, such as asking if he can use his house for parties with his friends. 

Although this had nothing to do with the doctor’s profession nor with Marco’s treatment, Marco, since he trusted him so much, immediately says yes without any second thought.

Requests Become Demands

Several years have passed in Marco and the doctor’s relationship. By now, the doctor makes many big demands from Marco, and Marco doesn’t refuse him because he has no shortage of wealth. 

The doctor even asks Marco if he can stay in his villa – that is, the place where Marco spent his holidays and owned the house, which was located in Hampton. Marco doesn’t refuse this request either and gives him his villa to live in.

Living Together

The series of requests from the doctor to Marco continues, and Marco had become so blindly trusting of him that he wouldn’t refuse any of his requests. 

In other words, if anyone was really using Marco’s wealth and living a luxurious life, it was the psychologist whose every wish was being fulfilled without any worry, and Marco probably thought of himself as a superhero who would accept everything. 

Increasing Control

The doctor and his wife move in and start living there. With time, the doctor starts involving Marco in more tasks, such as printing invitations, yard work, and even helping arrange fancy parties. 

Gradually, the doctor also started asking Marco for money, and he cleverly asks him if he could provide money to open a charity organization. 

His endless series of demands continues, and the doctor even asks Marco if he could give him an executive position in his fabric company or “Can I become a signatory on your bank account?”

Breaking Point

If it had remained just requests, it would have been understandable, but now the doctor was about to cross all limits. 

He advises Marco to make changes in his will, and this change was the result of the doctor’s clever planning through which he wanted that if something happened to Marco, all his wealth would come to the doctor and his wife.

Realization

In this relationship of many years, the doctor gains so much of Marco’s trust that he successfully takes control of everything in his possession. “Marco was blindly trusting his doctor and wouldn’t entertain any other perspective. 

He had already burned bridges with his sister and others, yet he still failed to see the writing on the wall of how much the doctor’s cunning manipulations had wreaked havoc on his life.”

Hospital Stay

Now the days were coming when Marco’s eyes were about to open regarding his relationship with the doctor. He was about to realize whether his blind trust was really right or if it was harming him. 

One day it happens that Marco learns he has a hernia for which he will have to undergo surgery.

Due to this illness, Marco has to spend considerable time in the hospital. When he is there, he starts feeling lonely. He asks himself where his friend doctor is; why isn’t he visiting? 

He’s bracing himself for major surgery, and there’s no guarantee he’ll pull through.He can’t believe his doctor friend hasn’t bothered to visit him once in the hospital.

Moment of Clarity

Suddenly, Marco realizes that the doctor has not only distanced him from his sister but also from many close and personal relationships over the years; by limiting him to just their relationship, he had become his only friend. 

Alone in the hospital immersed in his thoughts; Marco realizes that the doctor was never his friend. The doctor was just using him to take control of everything he had.

Taking Back Control

This realization shakes Marco. He decides that he will take back control of his life. He sends a harsh letter to the doctor telling him that he never wants to meet him again. 

He evicts the doctor from his Hampton house and immediately removes the doctor and his wife from his will. Doing all this was equivalent to gaining real freedom for Marco; And truly that’s exactly what happens.

Rebuilding Life

Slowly, Marco starts getting his life back in order. He also restores relations with his sister and brings her back to his home. 

He even gets a girlfriend after many years. Then he files a complaint against his former cunning doctor friend with the New York Health Department.

Manipulative Therapist Consequences

The Health Department investigates the doctor; they learn that the doctor has done similar manipulation and fraud with patients in the past as well. It is an unbelievable truth that he has not only played with Marco’s but many innocent lives.

Finally, the Health Department suspends the doctor’s medical license; he can no longer practice in New York. But is this punishment enough? Can people like Marco be completely free from oppression by such tyrants? 

Marco takes back control of his life; but will he really be able to escape from the shadow of his past or are these just new beginnings? 

He must be asking himself that extreme caution should be exercised in choosing relationships because it’s very important to know which relationship is real and which is fake.

Sometimes help received in the name of friendship can also be the biggest deception.
