According to the official report from the Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, Matthew Perry accidentally drowned due to ingesting a significant amount of ketamine.

Matthew Perry, recognized for his iconic role as Chandler Bing on the hit series Friends, died on October 28 under circumstances that left many unknowns.

His death was a hard blow to his fans and the entertainment community around the world. However, what initially appeared to be a tragic loss has become even more intriguing as more details about the circumstances of his death are revealed, and his ex-girlfriend wants it fully investigated.

According to the official report from the Los Angeles Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner, Matthew Perry ‘s cause of death was accidental drowning due to the ingestion of a significant amount of ketamine, a powerful, fast-acting anesthetic.

Ketamine, known for its hallucinogenic effects, is used both in humans as a sedative in minor medical procedures and in animals as a tranquilizer. This revelation initially baffled many, as it raised the question of how and why Perry could have consumed this substance.

Kaity Edwards, who was partnered with Matthew Perry in 2011 and is also a talent agent, has emerged as a central figure in the search for answers about the actor’s death.

Edwards recently spoke to The Sun and shared her suspicions about the source of the ketamine that could have contributed to Perry’s relapse into addiction.

Edwards hypothesizes that Perry would hardly have obtained ketamine from a conventional source, such as a pharmacy. Instead, she suggests that one of the doctors treating the actor could have prescribed or administered the substance.

This insinuation sheds light on a crucial aspect of the tragedy: the possible responsibility of medical professionals in Perry’s death (via Excelsior ):

“I’m pretty sure that in Matthew’s mind, ketamine infusions at a doctor’s office were considered staying sober. In his mind, this wasn’t the same as buying illegal drugs on the street.

This could have been the catalyst for his return to drugs. I wasn’t surprised when the coroner’s report was released. He already knew what it was, so he didn’t surprise me. I think the doctors who treated Matthew should be investigated.”

Edwards’ claims have sparked significant debate surrounding medical liability and prescribing medication in cases of addiction. Her perspective raises the question of whether doctors who prescribe potentially addictive medications to patients with histories of substance abuse should be subject to greater oversight and regulation.

However, there are controversial aspects surrounding Edwards’ claims. While she argues that Perry was not feeling well in the days before his death.

Close friends of the actor, such as Jennifer Aniston, have shared a completely different view. Aniston stated that Matthew Perry was happy and in good spirits in the days before his death.

Several prescription medications were found at Matthew Perry ‘s residence, including those to treat depression, anxiety and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), a common condition that affects lung function.

Surprisingly, however, no prescription opioid painkillers, such as Vicodin, which Perry used daily at one point in his life, were found. This raises questions about whether the actor had stopped taking these medications or whether he consumed them before his death.

Kayti Edwards also highlighted last month that in her experience, Matthew Perry often sought to be in the water when using drugs.

His last social media post, made under the alias “Mattman” and inspired by the comic book character Batman, showed Perry in his hot tub. According to Edwards, the appearance of “Mattman” could be an indication that he was not sober at the time.
