He tried to pull it out, but at that moment, the machine came down and cut off his finger. However, this story does not start with Digit, because his cut finger was about to cause a major uproar in an important part of the city.

Aaila’s Discovery

The story begins with a woman named Aaila. One night, she was eating at Wendy’s when she bit into a chili pepper and suddenly bit down on something crunchy. When she pulled it out, she saw it was a human finger. Seeing this made Aaila shake with fear. She started screaming and told everyone in the restaurant to stop eating because the food was contaminated! A human finger had come out of her food!

After those words, chaos erupted in the entire restaurant. The staff was accused of tampering with the food, and the restaurant was immediately shut down. They threw away the chili pepper but saved the finger and put it in the freezer.

The police resumed their investigation while Wendy’s set up a hotline offering a $50,000 reward for information. People called in with tips, leading to over 300 calls in one week with various claims. One caller claimed to know about Aaila’s past and said she was involved in real estate fraud.

By now, Aaila had been doing various interviews in the media to keep herself in the spotlight. But slowly, as her “honeymoon period” ended, rumors began to spread about her. Investigations revealed that Aaila’s past was unusually controversial; she had previously filed lawsuits against major companies. Her record of suing Wendy’s also came to light, increasing pressure on her.

Withdrawal of Lawsuit

Eventually, Aaila withdrew her lawsuit against Wendy’s due to intense media scrutiny. Even thieves worry that their own crimes might be exposed when they try to accuse others.

Because of Aaila’s claim, Wendy’s reputation suffered greatly and sales declined. According to Wendy’s, they were losing one million dollars daily due to this scandal. Therefore, management wanted to get to the bottom of it to restore their reputation.

During this time, police arrested Aaila—not for the finger-in-the-chili incident but for real estate fraud charges. They also arrested her husband Jamie because he owed $400,000 in debt. Afterward, Wendy’s increased the reward on their hotline, leading to quick results.

One day, they received a call from someone named Mike who worked in asphalt business. He reported that some time ago his employee’s finger got caught in a truck lift and was cut off. This was indeed the same employee we mentioned at the beginning—Digit! When Digit’s finger got cut off, he showed it to his coworkers including Aaila’s husband Jamie who was also working at that time.

After this incident, Jamie told Digit to sell his finger—he planned to use this accident for his own benefit! He bought it from Digit for $100 and later his wife used that finger in her scandal against Wendy’s.

Justice Served

When this evidence came forward to police, they didn’t need to arrest Jamie and Aaila again because they were already in custody for real estate fraud charges. The police presented their case in court where evidence led to Jamie receiving twelve years in prison and Aaila nine years. Jamie received a longer sentence because he was considered the mastermind behind this scandal.

Additionally, both were ordered to pay Wendy’s $21.2 million in damages and were banned from entering any Wendy’s locations for life.
