Marvel must face the creative crisis that it has allowed to grow in recent years.
Instead of nurturing its works to continue with the canon, the company limited itself to giving the green light to a bunch of projects and tried to arrange things at the last minute to connect all these stories even if it didn’t have much logic.
The brand is far from giving up, but it must gradually fix these narrative problems that have affected its last phases.
To do this, the production company is willing to make several changes for its next films, such as Captain America 4, a sequel that will have several reshoots with a new scriptwriter on board.
The big problem with the MCU was not that it wanted to extend its universe, but that it did so out of order, because until a few years ago it was very careful to maintain the connection between its stories, even if they seemed very far from each other.
Noticing that fans were still there after a decade, the higher-ups decided it was more important to deliver several adaptations and sequels rather than take their time to orchestrate the arrival of new heroes and villains who could make a difference to the canon.
The streaming series were also a big problem, because although the first ones did manage to attract fans, especially because they represented a great opportunity to enjoy several very beloved characters again, the following proposals failed to cause the same impact.
This felt especially strange and unfortunate because these other titles introduced new characters, like Ms. Marvel or She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Within this new wave of projects, Moon Knight was one of the few that managed to win over critics and the fans.
Moon Knight has set a new path for Marvel
In addition to receiving several praises for Oscar Isaac’s work as a man with various personalities, the adaptation of this character was also highly appreciated by fans for being more mature and violent, at least by MCU standards in recent years.
Thanks to this success among many other disappointments, the company takes this series as a starting point and inspiration for other works, and it is not surprising that several creatives who participated in Moon Knight are finding new opportunities within Marvel.
For example, Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson are joined the second season of Loki and everyone was so satisfied with their work that they are asked for the next Avengers films that recently lost their respective directors and scriptwriters.
This represents a very important and necessary point of change for the company, as it is looking within its successes for those names that can help the creation and development of new deliveries, but also so that they can fix those that have already made considerable progress with their production.
Captain America: Brave New World prepares to film extensive reshoots
After the events in Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Sam (will be responsible for fixing various plot points. Moon Knight, who worked as an advisor on Matthew Orton, they are preparing extensive reshoots with a new scriptwriter at the helm.
The information confirms that Deadline) is already presented as the new Captain America, but the world still has several reservations about his place as heir to this legacy. To confirm the importance of the character, Marvel commissioned a new sequel to the hero, one that will be incredibly relevant to the future of the franchise.
For this reason, the company does not want to fail with this film, because they need it to be perfect and, according to Anthony Mackie.
The outlet also reveals that these reshoots will be somewhat extensive and will begin work in the spring of next year.
Although filming new scenes is not a strange procedure for a film of this type, hiring a new scriptwriter in the process and extending production in this way, it is and may be a sign that the company was not satisfied with the path that was being taken with history.
The good news is that there is still time to fix the problem, since the sequel hopes to premiere in February 2025 and perhaps by then the context of the franchise will also be better.
