Lin’s Three-Body Problem Project: A Tale of Dreams, Deceit, Revenge
By Muhammad Saleem
Every poor and rich person has some dreams in their life. If they work day and night to achieve them, they can get results. Today’s story is about a billionaire from China who had some dreams, but his dreams turned into deceit and horror.
The man’s name is Lin, who has immense wealth. He earned this wealth, billions of yuan, by making online and mobile games in China. His company’s biggest game is “Game of Thrones: Winter is Coming.”
If you have billions of yuan but no vision or dreams, it is of no use. But Lin was not one of those people; he wanted to use his wealth to gain fame as well. One day, he decided to create a company that would produce memorable films.
Lin’s Three Body Problem Project Explained
For this, he buys the rights to a science fiction novel. This novel was very popular among people. Its sales were at their peak; its name is “The Three-Body Problem.” He buys the complete series of Three-Body novels.
He bought the company rights because he wanted to use them according to his grand vision and establish his global identity through them. Essentially, he wanted to make them the next Star Wars, including big films, spin-off TV shows, and spin-off video games.
So, he forms a new subsidiary company to handle this Three-Body Problem material. And to run this company, he appoints a man named Yu. Yu is a lawyer with a strange personality.
Over the next three years, Lin and his company make every effort to adapt these books into a series of six films. They work day and night to achieve their dream, holding one meeting after another. Unfortunately, Hollywood does not fully embrace his idea, and Yu is not running Lin’s subsidiary company well.
If you find someone who lacks the capability to manage a major project well, no matter how much money you spend and what vision you have, your project will not succeed. And Yu was such a person; he was spending the company’s money recklessly, but there were no results.
A Betrayal of Trust and a Twisted Revenge
So, Lin’s idea of Three-Body Problem movies does not achieve much success in Hollywood, and contrary to his vision, Lin faces failure, and this situation shatters his dream of creating a global Star Wars-like franchise. Lin is not happy, and it seems his dream will never come true.
But Lin is not one to stay silent and continues his research to fulfill his dreams. He meets two people who are showrunners and ruined the Game of Thrones TV series. As mentioned earlier, Lin’s company had developed the Game of Thrones online video game, which gave him a connection with them.
Lin asks both showrunners, named Benioff and Weiss, to join the Three-Body Problem project, and they accept Lin’s offer and join the board of directors.
After discussions, they all decide that to fulfill Lin’s dreams, they should make a deal with Netflix. Eventually, they all come together and make a deal with Netflix to turn the Three-Body Problem into a long-term drama series.
They all believe that Netflix is the best place for Lin, where he can turn Star Wars-like projects into global franchises. After this deal, finally, things start going right for Lin.
Seeing that things are back on track and Yu no longer has a place in his company, as mentioned earlier, Yu was not doing good work, and Lin thinks he will not let him waste more time and money. So, he removes Yu from the company’s head position and replaces him with someone else.
Not only does Lin remove Yu, but he also cuts his salary significantly. Ideally, Yu should have been barred from entering the company office again, but Lin does not do this. Instead, he demotes Yu to a subordinate position and tells him to continue his responsibilities.
This decision makes Yu very angry, and he decides to take revenge for his humiliation. And now, he starts planning how to get his revenge. As mentioned earlier in the video, Yu is a strange person.
A Twisted Plan and a Tragic End
On one hand, Yu was a strange person; on the other hand, he was very fond of watching TV, and he uses this hobby to take his revenge. For this, he advances his revenge plan with the help of his favorite show, “Breaking Bad.”
Taking inspiration from this show, he finds a place a bit outside the city and starts building a secret laboratory. He goes out and buys a lot of chemistry equipment and dozens of cell phones. Using these cell phones, he accesses the dark web, where he buys many toxic raw materials because he was trying to make a deadly poison.
On one hand, Yu is quietly working on his plan; on the other hand, he comes to Lin’s company daily and does whatever tasks are assigned to him well, meaning he does not let anyone suspect that he is about to take revenge.
After working at Lin’s company, he secretly goes to his laboratory and conducts experiments daily to find a poison that can send his enemies to the other world.
He was so mad about taking revenge that he experimented with over 100 different types of poisons. He tested these experiments on various pet animals found in his area to determine the poison’s potency.
Finally, after months of effort, Yu succeeds in making the desired poison. Now comes the time to execute his plan, and for this, he takes various drinks and mixes the poison in them, and takes them to his office, i.e., Lin’s office, and starts distributing them among his colleagues.
He also mixes poison in some probiotic pills and gives them to Lin’s secretary. These pills are used by people who have digestive or stomach issues. Lin’s secretary has no idea that Yu has mixed poison in these pills, so the secretary gives those pills to Lin as she usually did.
A few days after using those pills, Lin suddenly feels ill and cannot understand why he is in such a condition. All he knows is that he feels scared.
Seeing Lin’s condition, he has to be taken to the hospital. Meanwhile, four other employees of Lin’s company also have to go to the hospital. These were the people who had drunk the beverages from Yu. After examining them all, doctors realize that Lin and his employees were given some toxic material, but the doctors could not determine who gave them this material.
As soon as the doctors informed, there was chaos in the entire company; everyone was asking who gave the poison.
This matter reaches the police, and the police begin an investigation into it. After talking to people, the police suspect Yu and call him in for questioning. Yu clearly tells the police that he has no hand in this matter and does not know what happened to everyone, nor did he give anyone poison.
Then the police change their investigation method and ask him to just tell them what poisoned them so the doctors can save their lives. But this tactic of the police also does not work, and Yu again denies it and clearly says he knows nothing about it, meaning he keeps telling the police that he does not know anything about it.
Ten days have passed since the employees were admitted to the hospital, and during these ten days, the police were also continuously interrogating Yu, but he kept denying his involvement in the matter.
3 Body Problem Producer Killed
Fortunately for the four employees, their health starts to improve, but unfortunately for Lin, he passes away in the hospital on Christmas Day. A man who spent his wealth like water for his identity and appointed a friend as the head of his company was sent to the other world by that friend.
A Bittersweet Legacy
After Lin’s death, the police arrest Yu, and during this time, they also learn about the secret laboratory built outside the city. The police raid it, seize all the material there, and send Yu to jail.
Lin’s Three Body Problem Project Netflix
About four years later, the Three-Body Problem comes to the forefront. This project was Lin’s dream, which could not be fulfilled in his lifetime. This project finally premieres on Netflix, and the next day, Yu’s trial reaches its conclusion, and the court finds him guilty of poisoning his boss and sentences him to death.
It is rarely seen that if a person leaves the world, their services are remembered, but Lin’s colleagues do not do this. Instead, they credit Lin as an executive producer in the initial credits of the Three-Body Problem.
In Yu’s view, fate ruined everything for Lin, but Lin’s good friends kept his dream alive after his death. His story teaches us to have the courage to dream big, but always consider the risks.
