Although somewhat haphazardly, Thunderbolts, the next Marvel Studios film, continues to take shape.

A few weeks ago it was revealed that Steven Yeun had left the production for scheduling reasons (although rumors suggest something deeper and more problematic) and now The Hollywood Reporter is reporting that Lewis Pullman could replace him as Sentry in the new film.

Who is Sentry in Marvel comics?

Created by writer Paul Jenkins and illustrator Jae Lee, Sentry is a unique creation in the Marvel universe and debuted in The Sentry #1 in 2000.

Bob Reynolds, the Sentry’s alter ego, is a man with amnesia who discovers that was once the Sentry, a superhero with incredible cosmic powers, including the strength equivalent of a million suns.

It is revealed that Sentry was a forgotten hero to the world and himself, as a spell had erased the memories of his existence to protect the world from his evil alter ego, the Void.

The character often battles his own dark side, the Void, which possesses equally formidable powers. The duality between Sentry and the Void adds a unique complexity to the character’s narrative.

Although Sentry has played a major role in large-scale and cosmic events in the Marvel universe, her involvement has often been intermittent due to the challenges posed by her emotional instability and her connection to the Void.

Sentry is known for being one of Marvel’s most powerful heroes, but also one of the most tormented by his own internal struggles.

According to new information, Lewis Pullman , known for his work in films such as Top Gun: Maverick and Press Play, is Marvel Studios’ favorite to take the role of Sentry in the Thunderbolts movie.

Although his signing with the film house has not been confirmed, there seem to be great possibilities that he will end up in the role. Other stars who are part of the film’s cast include Ayo Edebiri, Harrison Ford, Florence Pugh and David Harbour.

Who are the Thunderbolts?

The Thunderbolts are a team of superheroes and, in some cases, anti-heroes. Its initial conception occurred in Thunderbolts #1 in 1997, created by writer Kurt Busiek and illustrator Mark Bagley.

In the original plot they were presented as a new group of heroes who emerged after the apparent death of the Avengers during the Onslaught event.

However, it was later revealed that the Thunderbolts were actually disguised supervillains led by Baron Zemo, who planned to gain the public’s trust before revealing their true intentions.

This unexpected twist added a unique dimension to the narrative and led to a series of events that explored redemption and the struggle between good and evil.

Over the years, the Thunderbolts have experienced various incarnations and lineups, with members ranging from redeemed criminals to anti-heroes looking for a second chance.

Their unique dynamic as a team has explored moral and ethical issues in the world of superheroes, providing a fascinating perspective on the duality of characters in the Marvel Universe.
