The climax of Momoa’s career in the DCEU came with Aquaman (2018), a solo film that thoroughly explored his character’s background and challenges.

The film, directed by James Wan, was not only a box office success, but also received praise for Momoa’s performance and for revitalizing Aquaman’s image for modern audiences.

Momoa has continued to play Aquaman in other DCEU installments, including a guest appearance in Zack Snyder’s Justice League (2021), the director’s cut that further highlights Snyder’s original vision for the DC cinematic universe.

His last participation in this failed franchise was in Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom, a film that has not received very positive reviews and has not succeeded at the box office either.
