The Frankenstein movie is a dream come true for Del Toro , who on previous occasions has declared that Mary Shelley ‘s novel is his favorite. It was the director himself who declared the following for Collider a few months ago:

“I’m doing Frankenstein. We are working on it, we start shooting in February.

It’s a movie that I’ve wanted to make for 50 years since I saw the first Frankenstein and I had an epiphany and it’s basically a movie that requires a lot of growth and a lot of tools that I couldn’t have made 10 years ago, 20 years ago and now I’m brave enough or crazy or something like that and let’s address it.”

Immortal in time

Shelley ‘s novel is impressive for its ability to explore profound and timeless themes that continue to resonate in contemporary society.

Written in the 19th century, the work addresses ethical and moral issues related to creation and responsibility, raising questions about the limits of science and human nature.

The story of Victor Frankenstein, a scientist obsessed with the idea of transcending the limits of life, and his creation, the creature, offers a disturbing reflection on the power of technology and human intervention in nature.

Furthermore, Shelley ‘s narrative stands out for generating empathy towards the creature, who despite its terrifying appearance, is a vulnerable being in search of acceptance and understanding.

The novel challenges traditional perceptions of good and evil by exploring the complexity of the human condition and moral responsibility in creation.

The combination of these deep philosophical reflections with an emotionally impactful plot makes Frankenstein a literary masterpiece that continues to captivate readers to this day.
