Revealing Secrets: ‘Red Queen’ series finale analysis
Revealing Secrets: ‘Red Queen’ series finale analysis. We break down the end of the Prime Video series ‘Red Queen’ without advancing details of ‘Black Wolf’ or ‘White King’, the books that will inspire the possible seasons 2 and 3.

Amazon Prime Video has launched all seven episodes of ‘Queen Roja‘, the adaptation of the best-selling novel by the currently most-read Spanish author, Juan Gómez-Jurado.
Many of its fans will devour the series with the same avidity as their novels and, although we are on the day of the premiere, there are already those who have reached the final episode of the investigation of Antonia Scott (Vicky Luengo) and Jon Gutiérrez (Hovik Keuchkerian) finding themselves almost as many answers as questions, in an outcome that leaves the door open to continue adapting the literary trilogy with ‘Black Wolf‘ and ‘White King‘.
Readers of Juan Gómez-Jurado‘s books know the ‘Red Queen‘ universe like the back of their hand, and will have identified many of the clues that will give rise to future situations and characters that, for the rest of the viewers, have been just a sketch.
However, our discussion will center on the series’ content, disregarding the future plot developments in the novels, particularly for newcomers who wish to avoid spoilers ahead of a potential second season. Fans, in any case, will always be able to keep an eye on the differences between the Prime Video series ‘Reina Roja‘ and the book by Juan Gómez-Jurado.
Finale of ‘Red Queen’: Ezequiel’s true identity
We all thought that Ezequiel, the kidnapper and murderer who has targeted the children of the most powerful people in the country, was actually Nicolás Fajardo, a former police officer from the underground unit presumed dead a few years ago. But not. Fajardo is a simple executioner manipulated by his daughter (we will address this later) Sandra, who, supposedly, also faked his death a few years before.
Sandra misled the police by fabricating false clues leading towards Fajardo, and she set a trap for the kidnapping unit agents. Upon entering Fajardo’s residence, the criminals triggered multiple bombs, resulting in the tragic loss of almost the entire team, despite Antonia’s attempts to alert them.
Cornered by Red Queen‘s agents, Sandra kidnaps Jorge, Antonia‘s son, and Antonia, without being able to access Mentor‘s help, hatches a plan with Jon‘s ‘amatxu‘ to free him from the hospital and confront him once and for all against Fajardo and Sandra, and thus be able to save their son and free Carla Ortiz, the daughter of billionaire Ramón Ortiz.
Finale of ‘Red Queen’: The ‘deaths’ of Fajardo and Sandra
Antonia and Jon manage to find the lair of ‘the bad guys’, located in the sewers of Madrid. Jon frees Carla and Jorge, mortally wounding Fajardo, while Antonia and Sandra fight a duel in the tunnels of the Madrid Metro. Antonia suspects that Sandra‘s entire plan has been a simple distraction spun by a superior mind, and Sandra seems to confirm this idea by stating, referring to Ezekiel, that “a prophet announces the one who will come.”
In the end, Sandra perishes after falling into one of her own explosive traps, Carla regains her freedom, Jon is reinstated in the police force, and Antonia is reunited with her son. Happy ending, and matter closed… right?
‘Red Queen’ ending: Sandra was not Fajardo’s daughter nor the mastermind of the kidnappings. Oh, and she’s not dead either.
Following the storm, during a moment of supposed calm, Jon and Antonia review the final details of the case in her apartment. It is at that moment when John reveals that Sandra‘s body has not been found, dropping that the safest thing about her is that she is still alive in the shadows. Moreover, they have examined the deceased body of Fajardo’s daughter, and surprisingly, YES, they confirm that it is indeed her remains. Therefore, Sandra was NOT Fajardo‘s daughter, but an imposter who used him, deceiving him, to carry out his crimes.
And that’s not all either! Do you recall the phrase “a prophet foretells the arrival of the one”? Well, it turns out that the mind behind everything, the person who placed Sandra in the psychiatric hospital to deceive Fajardo and who has been pulling the strings of the investigation at her whim, is none other than… Mr. White. And who is Mr. White?
Well, the murderer who sent Antonia‘s partner to the hospital and who since then has been the absolute protagonist of her obsession with finding him and obtaining revenge. A ghost that does not exist for the rest of the world, that leaves no footprints, no trace… least of all for the most intelligent person on the planet.
