“What’s your favorite scary movie?” Tyler Gillett and Bettinelli-Olpin, directors and producers of Paramount will surely waste no time to reply ‘Scream’.

Following the success of ‘Scream’ (2022), Radio Silence has released ‘Scream VI’ just fourteen months later, in which Jenna Ortega shines in the best sequel of the saga. In addition to enjoying the favor of the public and specialized critics, has become the most successful of the terrifying franchise by surpassing the barrier of 100 million dollars in collection in the United States, managing to surpass 150 million dollars worldwide, leaving behind 137 that her predecessor achieved.

At this point, no one doubts that ‘Scream 7’ is a reality, but this time things will go more calmly and we will have new people behind the cameras. The reason? Radio Silence prepares a new movie with Universal monsters starring Melissa Barrera.

Only one year passed between Craven’s original and its sequel, but between ‘Scream 2′ and Scream 3’ we had to wait three years. However, both will serve only as executive producers, with Christopher Landon , the director of ‘Happy Death Day’ and ‘ This Body Suits You to Death ‘, being in charge of directing the new ‘Scream’ film.

We have an unexpected twist that affects the Core Four, the four protagonists of ‘Scream VI’, the best since the original film . Melissa Barrera has been fired by the company Spyglass for expressing her support for Palestine on social networks , which has caused more than a thousand artists to begin mobilizing to demand respect for freedom of expression.

As if this were not enough, that phenomenon called Jenna Ortega has announced that she will not continue in the franchise due to “scheduling problems” (the filming of ‘Wednesday’ season 2 ). And we put these quotes with full intention because there is another version that points to an attempt at a salary increase by the actress to continue in the saga and that, after her departure, it is clear that it did not happen (and that fits if you have in mind the precedent between the production company and Neve Campbell’s financial demands).

This has been a real headache for James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick, screenwriters of the two previous installments and the future ‘Scream 7’, who are rewriting the script to adapt it to new protagonists.

And now comes the big question: even though Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega made Neve Campbell forget in ‘Scream 6’ , will we see the great star of the saga again? As we know, we were left without Sidney Prescott in ‘Scream 6’ after the actress found the financial offer that was presented to her insufficient. To continue the debate, the creator of the saga, Kevin Williamson, has positioned himself in favor of Neve Campbell returning to ‘Scream’ . And the departure of Barrera and Ortega has only fueled rumors about the return of Neve Campbell to the saga, that she would presumably return with Patrick Dempsey (whose character, detective Mark Kincaid, appeared in ‘Scream 3’).

Furthermore, it remains to be seen if Hayden Panettiere , back after ‘Scream 4’ and that, judging by the sixth installment, everything seems to indicate that this will be the case, and Courteney Cox, would reprise their roles.
