The desert power of Arrakis will be reaching Mexico. It has been confirmed that, in just a few days, we will have the visit of the talent of Dune Part 2, the long-awaited sequel to the space epic that conquered the public and critics.
The Warner Bros. studio has confirmed that CDMX will have the presence of Denis Villeneuve, the director, and his stellar cast, among whom are Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya , Austin Butler, Florence Pugh and Josh Brolin.
What next on Dune Part 2?
Titled in English Dune Part Two , the film will continue the story of young Paul ( Timothee Chalamet ), who barely survived a murderous plot against his family, the rulers of the planet of Arrakis.
By joining the Fremen, the native people of that world, he must become their leader to lead the war against the fierce and sinister House Harkonnen.
And thus regain control over the valuable natural resource of the species that allows interstellar travel. When will it premiere? The film hits theaters on March 15.
This is what makes the cast’s visit even more compelling. This is because Mexico will be the talent’s first stop on the press tour almost a month before its global launch.
The studio confirmed, through a statement, that there will be a special screening of the film at the National Auditorium.
When is the visit? This coming February 6, so pay attention to the announcements in the following days.
How many parts are from the Dune movie?
The franchise will be divided into two parts. If you saw Duna, around 2021, you will know that that first installment concluded with the first confrontation between Paul and a Fremen.
But this happened because Villeneuve chose to cut the novel, of the same name and written by Frank Herbert, in half in order to do more justice to the story.
Although the decision frustrated some, it will undoubtedly allow us to delve more deeply into the culture of this alien population.
The second half is the one with the most action as it will see Paul and company begin the fight for control of Arrakis.
More anticipated are the sequences in which the protagonist will be taught to ride the giant sandworms that are endemic to the desert planet.
So if you felt like the first movie was slow-paced, you can expect something much more fast-paced—and mind-blowing if you stick to the book—in Dune Part 2.
One way or another, we will return to the sands of Arrakis very soon. As we mentioned, Dune Part 2 premieres on March 15.
Although Villeneuve has expressed interest in adapting at least one other of the novels in the literary saga, everything will depend on the box office of this second part.
So if you liked it, we recommend you go see it as many times as possible so that the studio is encouraged to produce it.
