We have the ‘Girl of Steel.’ After weeks of casting, James Gunn, the co-president of DC Studios, has come up with his version of Supergirl.

The chosen one is Milly Alcock, the performer who made her acting debut two summers ago with the acclaimed and extremely popular HBO series The House of the Dragon.

She is the third actress to bring the character to life in real action on the big screen.

Who will be Supergirl in James Gunn’s DC?

The Hollywood Reporter magazine has confirmed that Milly Alcock has been cast as Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl in the DCU, the comic book firm’s next film franchise.

The process was long, and there were at least two other popular actresses in talks. The project is expected to be the second to begin production after Superman: Legacy.

So far, it has only been confirmed that the script is ready. Gunn himself was very flattering about the script written by Ana Nogueira. The interesting thing here is that there is still no director attached to the project, which is titled Supergirl: Women of Tomorrow, like Tom King’s comic series.

It was precisely that work that inspired the arrival of the superheroine to the new franchise.

Generally speaking, and as you probably know, Supergirl is Superman’s cousin. She was sent to care for him, who was a baby when Krypton exploded, but her capsule was diverted.

This caused her to arrive on Earth long after Clark Kent, which is why she is younger than the iconic superhero. However, she also decides to take a heroic course.

Alcok made a big impact for her role as young Rhaenyra Targaryen in House of the Dragon. She played the heir to the throne during her formative years when she discovers that, because of her gender, the kingdom is not ready to accept her as her future monarch.

The actress received great acclaim, and it is certain that her ease in being resilient and determined caught the attention of Kara.

Previously, Supergirl has appeared in her own live-action film, a failed, almost complete adaptation, and deservedly forgotten by the public. More recently, we saw her in the movies thanks to Sasha Calle in The Flash. Although that version was also a rougher one, the power of that convenient script did not do the actress much justice.

Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow will see a more badass version of the character. This is because she will show her a little less optimistic after having failed in her goal, and she will see her have a trip, and a series of adventures, in space.

The film still does not have a release date, but if the actress has already signed, it will be a matter of months until the studio decides to start production.
