James Gunn confirms all DC projects are under his control
James Gunn confirms all DC projects are under his control – The director explained how he has a voice in films and games that were developed before his promotion.

The boss of bosses, truly… or almost. Over the weekend, James Gunn spent a few days talking to his Threads fans about the state of all things.
This occurs, curiously, as the premiere of Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom approaches, the last installment of the extinct DCEU and the final obstacle between that failed franchise and the one he and producer Peter Safran have on the way.
And he has confirmed that everything that has to do with productions based on the comics firm goes through him.
How much control does James Gunn have over DC?
Through the new Meta platform, James Gunn was resolving some fan doubts about the DCU and the so-called Elseworlds tag, which will involve projects that will not be part of the main continuity of your franchise.
Regardless, the director explained that both types of comic book adaptations are now under his control at the newly formed DC Studios. And yes, this includes Joker 2 and The Batman Part II.
The DCU and Elseworlds are all included in DC Studios and are under my and Peter’s control, but the stories are simply not interconnected.
[In another response she specified] Todd had Joker ready for us when we took over. I’ve already seen her and given her notes, but she’s almost entirely with Warner, where she started. We will be involved in everything that comes in live-action.Who will be Pom Klementieff in Superman: Legacy?
Gunn took the opportunity to discuss all this after denying a report that Pom Klementieff, his collaborator on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, had been chosen for a role in Superman: Legacy.
Although he admitted that he did have a meeting with her, it was not to give her an appearance in her next film. From there, she began to answer questions from the public regarding the future of the franchise and her plans for the future.
All these topics seem timely given that this week it hits theaters Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom, the last production that was made from the now extinct DCEU.
The film will follow the adventure of the titular hero (Jason Momoa) and his brother Orm (Patrick Wilson ) for finding an ancient power that allows them to save Atlantis from Black Manta. The project had an expensive budget so it must have a considerable box office to at least recover the investment.
For now, and subject to last-minute changes, the only DC film we will see in 2024 will be Joker: Folie a Deux, the musical that will be a sequel to Joker and in which Lady Gaga will debut as Harley Quinn alongside the psychotic clown Joaquin Phoenix.
The project managed to save itself from damage caused by the strikes last summer and fall, but post-production is going well and, as you could read, Gunn himself has already seen a cut.
The DCU will officially launch with Creature Commandos, an animated series that will be launched in early 2024, but not yet.
We don’t even have a teaser or release date. The studio is probably waiting to see the response to Aquaman 2 before starting to schedule its new installments. That is to say, perhaps it will be in the coming weeks that we will see a preview of this project that will be the first step and test for Gunn’s plans.
