Although it may not seem like it, the Star Wars craze is still alive.

Not only among the passionate fans and also among the most casual spectators, but among its own cast. An example of this is Hayden Christensen, who has revealed that he loved returning as Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka, the most recent series in the franchise starring Rosario Dawson and created by Dave Filoni.

Why did Hayden Christensen return to Star Wars with ‘Ahsoka’?

In an interview with Empire, Hayden Christensen, Darth Vader explained how happy he was to return as Anakin for a couple of Ahsoka episodes last year. The actor revealed that he is a big fan of the animated series The Clone Wars, where this female character debuted, and that is why he always wanted to share scenes with her just as it happened in the show:

“The scenes I got to do as Anakin on Ahsoka were something on my bucket list that I didn’t know I had. When I was preparing to make Obi-Wan Kenobi, I started watching Clone Wars and I loved it.

I remember thinking ‘it would be amazing to see some of that in live-action’. When we finished the prequels, it felt like that was it and my journey with the character was over. So to come back and do more with Anakin and Darth Vader was an incredible opportunity.”

As you know, Ahsoka debuted in Clone Wars, a series that began being set between Star Wars: Episode II – Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

The character, who is Anakin‘s young padawan, became a fan favorite. So, once the canon was unified, there was a great inconsistency regarding why she was never mentioned in those two films despite her being so close to the protagonist.

Although Dave Filoni, who created the animated series, devised plots to keep her away during the major events of the fall of the Republic, he eventually tied his show into the continuity of the films through Ahsoka.

In one of the episodes, the protagonist ends up in a dimension outside of time where Anakin‘s spirit confronts her and helps her understand how to be a better teacher for Sabine.

The episode was one of the audience’s favorites. Not only because of his nods to the animated program, but because of the return of Christensen. Although he returned as Vader in Obi-Wan Kenobi, he remained for most of that show under the iconic suit and mask, this time we could see him as Anakin, the purest version of the character and his interaction with Ahsoka was even touching.

It is known that a second season of Ahsoka is in development, but it is not clear how long it will take to see it.

This is because Filoni is also preparing a The Mandalorian movie that will surely take priority given its 2026 release date. In any case, with Star Wars Day a couple of months away and the D-23 exhibition, for everyone Disney stuff, in early August, we’ll surely be hearing about Lucasfilm and Star Wars programming soon.
